The COOPARM cooperative was established in 1990 by a local priest, Father Antonio Rodríguez Arana, who was concerned about the low prices that coffee farmers received from intermediaries. He brought a group of producers together and formed a producers association. At the beginning, they exported their coffee through another co-op, located in Piura but in 1998, they took the big step of exporting directly. They worked as a producers association until 2008, when they became a cooperative.

Currently, COOPARM has 500 members, located throughout the Rodríguez de Mendoza province. COOPARM has been recognized both locally and internationally, for being the institution in that area that has had the greatest impact, in terms of economic and social development. They are committed to continuous growth and positively impacting their community. COOPARM has experienced sustainable growth in their exports and their positioning in international markets. They are committed to meeting the quality expectations of their clients, while at the same time implementing technical assistance programs with their members with the goal of increasing quality and productivity, thus improving their members’ livelihoods.
